About Yungay
Yungay is a city located in the Ancash Region, in the central part of the Callejón de Huaylas, approximately 2458 m.a.s.l., near the Santa River. The city was founded by Spanish Conquerors the 4th og August of 1533. The original city suffered great damage due to earthquakes and avalanches. The most recent happened in 1970, and led to the city being rubuilt as New Yungay. The city has a vast history, and plays a vital role in the central andes trade routes. From the city you can easily reach several touristic attractions of the Callejón de Huaylas Valley.
