Pomata is a city that serves as capital for the district of the same name. It is located in the department of Puno and can be located just southwest of Lake Titicaca. Its name means "house of the puma", this animal can be found in the district's coat of arms. During Inca times, this territory was annexed to the empire, and the third Inca Lloque Yupanque is said to have settled here for a couple of days. Today it is a city that is gaining popularity among travelers due to its beaches and architecture.
