About Terminal Pomata
Pomata is a district located in Puno, very close to the Titicaca lake. Its name is peculiar because it comes from the Aymara phrase "puma uta", which translated into Spanish would mean "the house of the puma". It was a land of great importance within the government of the third Inca, Lloque Yupanqui, because he used its height and its position near the lake to create a strategy of military resistance. Different records show that the Spaniards arrived here in 1533, and that it would be a year after that Fray Tomás de San Martín officially founded it with the aim of expanding the Catholic religion.
